Luca Ponsi is Adjunct Professor of Architecture & Architecture Field Studies Coordinator at Syracuse University School of Architecture in Florence and co-founder of Studio Ponsi – Architettura e Design, in Florence.
Born in San Francisco, USA, and raised in Florence, Italy, he has lived and worked in the United States, Switzerland, Portugal and Italy.
He received his M.Arch degree from the Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio (Switzerland). Elia Zenghelis, founder of the Office of Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) was his thesis advisor. During his studies he was awarded with a Fondazione Maletti scholarship and an Erasmus Programme grant to study at the Universidade Luisiada in Lisbon (Portugal).
Luca worked in the offices of Mark Mack Architects in Los Angeles, and Francesco Matucci Architect in Florence.
He collaborated with Moretti Costruzioni Spa to develop a concrete pre-fabricated housing system, now produced by the company.
In 2013 his work was selected and exhibited at the Lisbon Architecture Triennale, both in Florence and in Lisbon (PT).
From 2010 to 2015 he taught Interior Design and Analytical Drawing at the Florence Institute of Design International.
Since 2011 he teaches Architectural Design, Analysis and Representation at Syracuse University in Florence – School of Architecture.
He is a licensed architect in Switzerland and Italy.
