Conceiving an object in which the solidity and seductive colors of marble integrate with the ethereal essence of artificial light: this is the theme that eight internationally renowned designers have addressed in collaboration with selected Tuscan marble laboratories and the technical assistance of the Lucca-based company Martinelli Luce.

The relationship between light and matter, evoked in the title “Luci di cava”, has been explored in projects that recall both analogies with ancient languages and in renewed forms and new concepts. Given the opportunities offered by such freedom of expression, the only constraint for the designers was to limit the dimensions of the work to those of a “table” object.

The eight lamps/sculptures were designed by Nicolas Bertoux, Michel Boucquillon, Donia Maaoui, Emiliana Martinelli, Claudio Nardi, Andrea Ponsi, Cynthia Sah and Marta Sansoni,

The “Luci di Cava” exhibition is part, with a fortunate combination, of the larger White Carrara-“Design is back” event, set up in various private and public spaces in the Apuan city and open to the public throughout the summer of 2024.

White Carrara is directed by Domenico Raimondi

and is promoted and produced by the Municipality of Carrara in collaboration with Internazionale Marmi e Macchine Carrara Fiere SpA, in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce of North-West Tuscany, with the patronage of the Tuscany Region and the contribution of the Marmo Foundation.
